CHIPS’ Annual Run/Walk and Community Health Festival
While fundraising walks are plentiful in the St. Louis area – the CHIPS Run/Walk is unique:
Most important – this event supports healthcare and social services for the uninsured. Since 1990 CHIPS’ volunteer doctors, dentists, and other medical personnel have provided care for residents of north St. Louis and the surrounding community, regardless of the client’s ability to pay. CHIPS has become a critical access point for healthcare with over 24,000 service encounters per year.
Every $1.00 invested in supporting CHIPS saves the community $7.00 in healthcare services to the uninsured. In the last twelve months CHIPS saved the St. Louis community $6,000,000 by keeping 99% of CHIPS’ clients out of the hospital and out of the ER.
CHIPS’ Run/Walk appeals to track club members as well as families. This event includes a competitive 5k race, a 5k untimed run/walk
and a one-mile fun walk.
The race route starts at the CHIPS health center on North Grand and winds through the streets of north St. Louis attracting the support
and interest of community residents.
Dozens of talented musicians, vocalists and dance groups provide live entertainment.
There is plenty of free food, games and activities to delight the children, exhibits and product displays, health screenings, door prizes and raffle.
